Hancock County to Review Ambulance Service

Carthage, IL – Hancock County's board will schedule a committee-of-the-whole meeting to discuss approaches to maintaining a county-wide ambulance service.

Board member Joe Stevenson says the meeting will probably be early next month.

He says he's found three private providers interested in setting up ambulance operations. They will be invited to attend the meeting.

In addition, the county's current ambulance operators will be invited to send a representative .

Hancock County levies a tax to support ambulance service. However, some towns have problems finding enough volunteers.

LaHarpe and Nauvoo district residents have voted to have the county tax go to their ambulance operations in an attempt to gain better reimbursement and more stable staffing.
