Keokuk, IA – Supporters hope a five-day bike ride across Iowa will raise awareness of the Mississippi River Trail.
A group of cyclists will ride Iowa's 300+ mile portion from Keokuk to the Minnesota border Saturday morning through Wednesday afternoon.
Lee County Conservation Director, Tom Buckley, helped organize the event.
He says the ride will be used to scout the trail to make sure it is accessible to cyclists and to gather input as to how it can be improved.
Buckley says representatives of the Iowa Department of Transportation will take part in the ride so they can see the Mississippi River Trail up close.
The entire trail, which runs from Minnesota to Louisiana, is more than three-thousand miles long.

* The ride through Lee County will start at the corner of 2nd and Main in Keokuk and run along Grand Avenue and River Road through Montrose, Fort Madison, and Wever.
