Keokuk, IA – Keokuk could have a city administrator in place this fall.
The city council is scheduled to vote next week on whether to pay up to $3,200 to hire someone to oversee the process.
Mayor Pro-Tem Susan Dunek says the current timeline would result in Keokuk hiring an administrator in mid-September.
The projected salary would range from $80,000 to $110,000.
Dunek says adding an administrator would improve day-to-day operations.
She says Keokuk's mayor-council form of government would remain the same.
Dunek says city code will have to be changed to correspond with a job description that is being developed.
Meanwhile, the Keokuk Fire Department's new 100 ft. platform truck is now in the city.
Members of the department drove it up Blondeau Street, prior to last night's city council workshop, after picking it up in Wisconsin.
Chief Mark Wessel says 3 ten-hour training sessions are scheduled for next week.
The city borrowed more than $1,000,000 to purchase two fire engines and two police cars.
