Macomb, IL – Macomb will spend $90,700 for design engineering work on the Wigwam Hollow Road bridge.
The contract with McClure Engineering was approved by aldermen on Monday night. They also agreed to use motor fuel tax money from the state to pay for the work.
Public Works Director Walter Burnett says it will be a complicated project. He says it will require a lot of environmental and hydrological assessment.
Aldermen also agreed to pay McClure $34,800 to do design engineering work for the Compton Park and Franklin Street bridge projects. That money will also come from the state motor fuel tax.

Additional information:
*Burnett thinks it might be a good idea to close the bridge in Compton Park to vehicles for the summer. He believes it could remain open to pedestrians but more research will need to be done.
*Burnett does not yet know how long it will take to do the bridge work. He hopes to have an answer sometime soon.
*The contracts were unanimously approved by the city council.
