Blandinsville, IL – Blandinsville's police chief has resigned, but will remain with the department as a patrolman.
Scott Hainline says the village will probably change the orientation of its police department, but did not lay out a specific direction.
Hainline says he was asked to stay on the seven-person force, and plans to do so.
He says it's common for police chiefs in small towns to change with a change of government leadership.
Marilyn Moore was recently elected village board president for the town.
Hainline is working with McDonough County deputy sheriff Justin Lundgren on the transition. Lundgren will serve as interim chief.
Hainline says he's been chief for almost five years. He says the change will give him more time for law enforcement training sessions that he conducts.
Hainline says he has taught law enforcement classes for the Police Training Institute, the Western Illinois Police Training Unit and on contract with the U.S. Navy for sailors preparing to go to Iraq.
