New Well On Schedule

Rushville, IL – Engineers told Rushville aldermen the city's new well should be on-line by September.

Mayor Scott Thompson says he was hoping for an earlier date, but the September opening was laid out in the schedule for construction.

Thompson says the new well is needed, because one of the city's two working wells went down in late May. He says repairs on that pump should be completed next week.

He says the two wells can provide water during the summer when demand is high. The third well will be a backup. Its cost could be up to $360,000.

He says the capacity growth is also needed with the establishment of the state Detention and Treatment Facility.

The city's three wells are near the Illinois River and pump from its aquifer.
