LaHarpe, IL – A state grant for more than $21,000 will upgrade some of the equipment on the LaHarpe Fire Protection District pumpers.
Fire Chief Jerry Brown says some of the existing hose on the department's four pumper trucks has been there for almost 30 years.
He says the grant will purchase both two-and-a-half inch supply lines, and the one-and-three-quarter inch attack lines that the fire fighters use to apply water to the fire.
Brown says he plans to have the hose purchased and installed by the end of the summer.
The LaHarpe Ambulance Service recently received a grant from Great River Medical Center for training equipment and supplies.
