Rushville, IL – New Illinois regulations on farmland assessment will mean Rushville won't get some of its property tax money until late fall.
Mayor Scott Thompson says the assessment changes mean the county's tax bills won't be mailed out until much later than usual.
Thompson says he's been told payments of property tax money might not be made until November. He says usually payments come to the city in July and September.
He says he's expecting about $225,000 in property tax money.
Thompson says this means the city will have to watch its spending carefully during the summer and fall.
He says some purchases that were approprited for might not be made.
Thompson says the change is no one's fault, but just unavoidabe delays caused the the state-required mandate.
Thompson says his plan for moving one city council meeting each month out into the ccommunity will help aldermen decide what the city needs most, and which purchases might wait.
