Keokuk Vision Unveiled

Keokuk, IA – The Keokuk Area Vision Plan with Action was unveiled to nearly 200 on-lookers yesterday afternoon.

The next challenge for community leaders is implementing the plan.

The vision plan focuses on how Keokuk looked in the past and what it could look like in 2016.

It includes a five-year strategic plan and dozens of potential projects or programs.

Mayor Dave Gudgel says every resident is going to have to get involved to make the vision of Keokuk's future a reality.

During the unveiling, representatives of more than 25 organizations pledged to support the plan and work to make the vision a reality.

Gudgel says a committee will soon be formed that will work with the lead organizations to help them meet their objectives.

Additional Information
* The plan got its start in December 2005 and the first organizational meeting was held in April of 2006.

* There are a total of 72 strategic objectives.

* Gudgel says the first item the city council is expected to tackle is the creation of a city website.
