Burlington, IA – Iowa's Office of Energy Independence could soon have a director.
The legislature created that department as part of the $100,000,000 Iowa Power Fund.
Governor Chet Culver (D) says he plans to appoint the director of the Office of Energy Independence by early July.
Culver did not say who he had in mind for the post.
The Governor says the 18 member Power Fund Board could be in place by late July.
Culver says this panel should be a cross-section of Iowa.
Culver says more than 60 people have applied to serve on the Power Fund Board.
The Governor made his comments during a stop in Burlington.
