Burlington, IA – Southeast Iowa replaced Des Moines as the home of state government, for at least a few hours, this week.
Governor Chet Culver started off the event by signing an official state proclamation that names Burlington as Iowa's "Capitol For A Day."
After that, he and DNR Director Rich Leopold took about a dozen questions from the more than 100 people who came to Burlington's Dankwardt Park.
This is the fourth such event since the Iowa legislature wrapped up its Spring session.
Culver says taking the capitol on the road gives him a chance to hear directly from his employers.
Some of the main issues brought up during the Burlington event included water quality, land-fills, renewable energy, dusty roads, and pre-school.
Culver says he would like to hold two more Capitol for a Day events this summer: one in Albia and the other near his hometown of McGregor.
