Lake Geode State Park Gets Grant

Henry County, IA – The state will help fund a major project at a Southeast Iowa state park.

The Department of Economic Development will provide $350,000 dollars to build a new public beach shelter and two playgrounds at Lake Geode State Park.

Southeast Iowa State Parks Supervisor Tom Basten says the 150-person beach house will include restrooms and a kitchen area.

He says the playgrounds, which will be for different age brackets, will both be handicapped-accessible.

Basten says the work could get underway on both projects next summer.

He says fundraising for both projects is still underway.

A sewer upgrade and renovations to the main road are planned for this summer.
