Macomb, IL – Two of Macomb's aldermen will oversee the search for the next city administrator.
Mayor Mick Wisslead says he will appoint Alderman At Large Chris Senn and Fourth Ward Alderman Mike Inman to the search committee next week.
One of the first duties for the committee will be to finalize the job description for the position. Senn says he would like to require the person to seek more money through grants.
The mayor believes the new city administrator can be hired by this fall.
The new person will replace Mike Hays. He left in mid-April after it became clear Wisslead would not reappoint him. Hays spent four-and-a-half years in the position.

Also this week:
*Mayor Wisslead said he wants input in writing about the city's proposed new definition of "family." Wisslead said this will give the city a chance to respond to residents' questions and concerns.
*It's believed the new definition will come up for discussion for at least the next three weeks. The proposal has already been approved by the Macomb Planning Commission.
*The change is seen as a way of clarifying the city's ordinance and preventing too many unrelated people from living together in neighborhoods zoned for single family housing.
