Macomb, IL – US Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) met with McDonough County Democrats on Tuesday.
Durbin said he thinks every day about what he can do to end the War in Iraq and bring the troops home.
Illinois' senior US senator said President George Bush misled the nation into a war that's now cost 3,570 brave Americans their lives. Durbin said another 30,000 American soldiers have been injured; 10,000 of them have suffered serious injuries.
Durbin also criticized the president's decision to commute the sentence for former Vice Presidential Chief of Staff Lewis "Scooter" Libby. Libby won't have to serve any prison time for obstructing the investigation into the leak of CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity.
Durbin said that suggests there are two standards of law in the country.
