Rushville, IL – Rushville's mayor wants the state to end its delays and act quickly to approve approving the annexaton of the nearby Detention and Treatment Center.
Scott Thompson says aldermen have been trying for months to get the center annexed into the town.
Thompson says the annexation would have the effect of increasing the town's populaton by about 300 people.
He says his means the city would receive a greater share of the state income tax and use tax money returned by the state.
Thompson says the amount is not large, but with the city having to replace some water mains because of leakage, the funds would be welcome.
He says the annexation plan has been bounced from one state agency to another. He'll send a letter urging the governor to get the plan moving and eliminate problems.
Thompson says he'll also urge the governor to take steps to help develop a budget for the state. He says until that's accomplished, municipalities can not do any effective planning .
