Rushville, IL – Schuyler-Industry high school students can sign up for a new behavior incentive program this fall.
Superintendent Matt Plater says students can sign up for gold, silver or bronze levels of achievement.
They pledge to do things such as get better grades, or reduce the number of times they're tardy.
Plater says those who qualify can earn rewards such as leaving five minutes early for lunch or being able to leave early on a Friday afternoon.
He says with a closed campus, the early lunch program will be a desired goal.
He says the rewards were suggested by students.
Plater sees the program as a win-win situation. He says there will be no extra cost to the school except for a bit of record-keeping.
He says many of the students are already doing what they should, but the awards will give them the feeling of being something special. In addition, he believes it might motivate some of the other students to work toward the goals.
