Keokuk, IA – Keokuk could speed up its multi-year, multi-million dollar street repair program.
Initially, the city council decided to borrow $12,000,000 over 12 years to put in new concrete streets.
Now, the streets sub-committee has come up with a proposal that calls for the money to be borrowed over four years.
Chairman Gary Stepp says the first few projects have shown him that future construction could take place sooner rather than later.
He says the impact of the new plan on Keokuk's property tax rate will determine if it gains council approval.
The proposal includes money to replace Grand Avenue over the next two years.
