Hamilton, IL – It appears Hamilton will be able to host high school football games this fall.
A group of volunteers has been working all summer to bring the football field back in compliance after the state ruled that several bleachers and light posts were too close to the playing field.
Coordinator Kirk Neally says the field has been moved and it is now ready for the first time Hamilton hosts a West Hancock football game, August 25th.
He says it was important for the community to work together on this project.
Neally says the restrooms at the field have been repaired, new lighting has been installed, and the goal-posts will be in later this week.
He says the Illinois High School Association has been invited to come to Hamilton to make sure the field is up to code and in compliance.
Additional Information
* Neally says more than $7,000 was raised for the project.
* Hamilton found out its field was out of compliance during last year's IHSA playoffs.
