Keokuk, IA – Efforts to add a city administrator to Keokuk's current form of government could take a major step forward this week.
The Keokuk City Council could approve the final two readings, Thursday night, of an ordinance that would create the post.
If that takes place, Finance Committee Chairman Doug Matlick says the candidate search process could proceed immediately.
He says the post would improve efficiency within city government, especially during budget time.
A job description has not been made public.
Matlick says the council received a draft of the description, last week, so questions or concerns can be raised this week.
He says Keokuk still hopes to have an administrator in place this fall.
