Springfield, IL – A West-Central Illinois lawmaker will not try to make the jump to Washington D-C.
State Senator John Sullivan (D-Rushville) says he will not seek the Congressional seat that US Represenative Ray LaHood is vacating.
Instead, Sullivan plans to run for another term representing the 47th district in Springfield.
He says the decision was a difficult one.
Sullivan would not have been able to seek re-election in Springfield if he decided to run for Congress.
He says Democrats have a good chance of winning the 18th Congressional District seat, which the Republican LaHood has held for more than 12 years.
Sullivan says he is willing to help select a Democratic candidate... though he has not yet been contacted about doing so.
