Crowded Field for Keokuk School Board Race

Keokuk, IA – Almost a dozen candidates will be on the ballot, September 11th, seeking seats on the Keokuk School Board.

Seven residents, including two incumbents, are seeking the two open seats on the board that carry three-year-terms.

Three more filed for the seat previously held by Tom Wemette, who died in November.

That seat carries a two year term.

And just one person filed to serve the final year remaining in the term of the late Dave Hotop, who passed away in March.

Two incumbents, Board President James Vandenburg and Brian Richardson, are not seeking another term on the board.

The fields are not as large in Lee County's other school districts.

In Fort Madison, a pair of incumbents face no opposition while two candidates filed for each of the two seats on the Central Lee School Board.
