Burlington, IA – It remains unclear when commercial flights will resume at a Southeast Iowa airport.
Wyoming-based Great Lakes Airlines was awarded the essential air service contract, roughly 5 months ago, to provide flights from Burlington's Southeast Iowa Regional Airport to St. Louis.
Director Sharon Leeper says there are still no commercial flights out of Burlington and there has not been a timeline put in place as to when flights could resume.
She says the situation is frustrating.
Leeper says Great Lakes Airlines is telling her the company does not have enough planes to provide the service.
She says the lack of commercial flights is having a huge impact on the airport, financially.
