Macomb, IL – The McDonough County Board wants better information from its annual audit, and will look into hiring a different auditing firm.
Finance Committee chairwoman Alice Henry says her group is working with the Western Illinois Regional Council to develop some bid specifications that can be sent to accounting firms.
She says information from the current auditors, Clifton Gunderson, has been slow in coming.
In addition, she says while the most recent audit has been delivered to the county; the management letter, which lists suggestions to improve the county's compliance with requirements, has not been delivered yet.
Henry says a draft management letter lists several items that were included in previous letters, along with some suggestions that had already been implemented.
She says the current firm has done the audits for more than a dozen years.
