Macomb, IL – The city administrator's office at Macomb City Hall has been empty since mid-April. Now, four months later, aldermen have agreed to advertise for the position.
Alderman At-Large Chris Senn, who is part of the search committee, says input has been gathered from department heads and staff members.
Senn says the committee found city workers want someone with strong communication skills. They also say the new city administrator should be good with public relations, computers, and budgeting.
Senn says the city will conduct its own search, but could hire a search firm if the need arises. He hopes to have someone in place by the beginning of the year.

*The previous city administrator was Mike Hays. Hays left after Mayor Mick Wisslead decided not to reappoint him.
*Senn says aldermen talked about reducing the position to a part-time job or doing away with it, but decided against those ideas. Nonetheless, he says the city has operated smoothly during the past four months without someone filling the job.
