Keokuk, IA – Keokuk's mayor wants 2 more years in office.
Dave Gudgel has served in that capacity for the past 6 years.
He says he is running again to provide continuity at a time when Keokuk plans to hire a new city administrator/city clerk.
Gudgel says he made his decision to run just this week.
He says his health was a small aspect of his decision.
Gudgel announced, more than 2 years ago, that he has cancer.
Gordon Blankenship, Sr. and John Sherman have also taken out nominating petitions to run for mayor.
The deadline to secure the required signatures to be on the ballot in November is September 20.

* Alderman Bill Olmsted (At-Large), Scott Nichols (2nd Ward), and Roger Bryant (4th Ward) have taken out papers to retain their seats on the city council.
* No one in the city's sixth ward has taken out papers to serve.
