Lewis County, MO – There are less than ten miles to go before the Avenue of the Saints is complete.
The Missouri Department of Transportation has officially opened a six mile stretch of the highway through Lewis County.
A special celebration was held that included a south-bound caravan down the route and a cook-out for those in attendance.
Spokeswoman Marisa Brown says that stretch of the Avenue of the Saints will not be open to traffic, though, for a couple of weeks as shoulder-work and striping must be completed and some signs must be installed.
She says that leaves roughly nine miles through Clark County to finish.
Brown says the intersection at Running Fox Elementary School in Clark County could be open to traffic in a month or so.
She says construction should be wrapped up in June of next year.
