Warsaw, IL – Warsaw residents are still being asked to conserve water.
As heavy rains caused the Mississippi River to swell, Water Superintendent Joe Samuels says the city realized there was a problem with the intake to Warsaw's water plant.
He says the depth and speed of the river are making it difficult for divers to find out what is wrong with the intake, so for the time being, there is not enough water being pumped into the plant to properly supply Warsaw.
Samuels says the city is trying to extend a new line into the river and connect it to a back-up water pump.
He says that would restore the water plant's pumping capacity, which could reduce the need to conserve water until the intake is repaired.
