Oquawka, IL – The Henderson County State's Attorney is waiting to find out whether he'll be doing a murder trial in Oquawka ... or Greece.
Ray Cavanaugh wants to try Dimitrios Androutsopoulis, who's one of three people accused of the 2001 murder of Dwight Vice in his rural Oquawka home.
Androutsopoulis fled to Greece after the murer. He's since been taken into court custody there.
Cavanaugh says Greek authorities "have issues" with extraditing him back to the U.S. on homicide charges. He says he was willing to waive any requests for the death penalty, but so far to no avail.
He went to Greece for an extradition hearing there, but it was postponed when he arrived.
He says he's been told it could be three or four months before Greek authorities reach a decision.
If extradition is not possible, Cavanaugh says he'd be willing to have Androutsopoulis tried in Greece.
Others charged in the murder have already been tried and found guilty.
During the event, Vice's then-12-year old son was stabbed in the spine and became a paraplegic.
