Monmouth, IL – Investigators are not saying much about a murder case in western Illinois. Instead, they want the public to speak up and help identify the man.
Illinois State Police say the victim was a black man in his 40s. He was about 5'8" or 5'10" and weighed 160 to 180 pounds. He had black hair, brown eyes, and a goatee. He was wearing Dockers-style pants, a FILA pullover shirt and white tennis shoes.
Investigators also say he was wearing a distinctive looking silver ring. Instead of being perfectly round, its shape is twisted into a zig-zag (see the photo).
The body was found Sunday morning along Highway 34 near the Cameron Road exit in Warren County. Investigators will not say how long the body might have been there or how the man died.
State police say identifying the victim is the first step toward getting justice for him.
