Keokuk, IA – Just 9 candidates have run for the last 7 open seats on the Keokuk School Board.
This year, though, is much different.
The ballot is loaded with 11 residents seeking 4 seats, including 7 in the race for a pair of 3-year terms.
The seven candidates are incumbents Dave Barrett and Brent Gatton, and newcomers Bill Reed, Tom Gardner, Stacey Johnston, Donna Holman, and Carol Mardis... whose name will be on the ballot despite reportedly dropping out of the race.
Current School Board President Jim Vandenberg is not seeking re-election.
