Canton, IL – More tuition might help Spoon River College make up for the governor's cuts in the state budget.
Spoon River College will lose about $170,000 in state support unless the cuts are overridden.
However, spokeswoman Anna Buehrer increased tuition income might help make up part of the difference.
She says while the head-count is down slightly, students are taking about 13 percent more credit hours than they did last semester.

Buehrer says the college had a balanced budget of about $15.2 million before the governor adjusted the budget legislators sent him.
She says any shortfall after vetoes and additional tuition income will be covered by across-the-board budget cuts.
