Burlington, IA – It could be several more weeks before Burlington residents find out the name of a yet-to-be completed school.
The Burlington School District's new middle school is scheduled to open its doors in the fall of 2009.
The school board had narrowed the list of possible names to three: Northside, Northwood, & Northwest (the current working name).
But after a resident asked the panel to name the school after a former teacher, Superintendent Lee Morrison says the school board chose to delay the vote until next month at the earliest.
The new middle school will replace Oak Street Middle School and Horace Mann Middle School, which was destroyed by fire.
