Macomb, IL – The McDonough County Board tabled the idea of placing an advisory ballot on the February primary ballot.
County Clerk Gretchen DeJaynes says the advisory measure would have called on the federal government to provide full funding for medical care for veterans.
She told board members it would cost about $3,000 for coding and ballots to include the proposal in a non-partisan election. She also suggested a resolution addressed to the state's U.S. Senators might be as effective.
Board members tabled the proposal until next month's meeting. DeJaynes said if some other non-partisan issue is submitted for the ballot, that would eliminate the extra cost to the county.
