Hamilton, IL – The upcoming season for Hamilton's high school baseball team could be in jeopardy.
Superintendent James Jackson says the district has very few options available to it after a deal that would have allowed Hamilton to join the current baseball co-op between Nauvoo-Colusa and Warsaw fell through.
Jackson says less than a dozen students have expressed an interest in playing high school baseball in Hamilton this year.
Nauvoo-Colusa School Board President Terry Knoke says the deal was voted down because nearly 30 Warsaw and Nauvoo-Colusa high schoolers are interested in playing this year.
He says adding players would lead to try-outs and players being cut from the team.
The three districts have agreed to co-op all high school sports starting with the next school year.
Additional Information
* Jackson says the district's options include fielding no team, finding more players, or talking to Illini West about a co-op.
* Nauvoo-Colusa is the administrative school for its high school baseball co-op with Warsaw.
