Carthage, IL – Carthage's mayor is not happy with delays at starting construction on a new senior apartment complex.
Jim Nightingale says he's been told the delays are caused by the general contractor's inability to come up with sub-contractors for the project.
Nightingale says he has a hard time accepting that.
The city and the Area Agency on Aging, which is coordinating the HUD project, both asked the contractor to include local sub-contractors where possible.
The ten-unit project of single-floor apartments will be built near the downtown area.
Nightingale says the lot was chosen in part because it's within walking distance of shopping, banking and other services.
