Hamilton, IL – Plans to build a walking bridge on Hamilton's southwest side are temporarily on hold.
Mayor Steve Woodruff says a special-use, flood-plain permit must be secured before the 175' bridge can be built where Hamilton's old covered bridge once stood.
He says no time-line has been given as to when that document could be available.
In the meantime, volunteers are being sought to clean up the nearly one mile road that connects the proposed site of the walking bridge to the beach area near the boat docks.
Woodruff says the road would make a beautiful walking trail.
