Lee County, IA – Lee County could see record corn yields when this fall's harvesting season wraps up later this month.
Extension Director Bob Dodds says roughly 25% to 30% of the county's corn crop is out of the fields and heading for storage.
He has been hearing about yields as high as 260 bushels/acre, which is well-above the average for Lee County.
Dodds says the national average is expected to be about 150 bushels per acre.
While Lee County's corn crop is thriving, soybean farmers are seeing different results.
Dodds says diseases hit soybeans hard this year which, at this point, is leading to lower than anticipated yields.
