Lee County, IA – Domestic Violence can impact the life of someone you know.
That's the message those working to raise awareness about domestic violence are trying to get out this month.
Sue Prochazka says studies show that three or four people, out of every ten that you know, will be either physically or sexually abused in their lifetime.
The Director of the Tri State Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Abuse says that's why the work done during Domestic Violence Awareness month is so important.
Prochazka says the more people are made aware of the issue, the more they will come forward if it is happening to them or someone they know.
She says her organization will provide several training programs, school presentations, and a traveling display and information booth during the month of October.
She says 23,800 victims of domestic violence in Iowa recieved services last year. Locally, nearly 350 women, children, and men received help.
