Beardstown, IL – Beardstown aldermen have approved an appraisal and an environmental study for a possible land swap at the municipal airport.
The city owns two acres with a mobile home located just outside the airport. It has a mobile home on it used by a farm hand.
It wants to trade for almost 10 acres, also just beyond airport boundaries, that could be used if the airport were to add an east-west runway.
City Clerk Brian "Petie" Ruch" says the mobile home was used by the airport manager before the city took over the airport from the park board.
The mobile home land is considered more valuable because it has water available from an airport well.
