Keokuk Reaches Agreement With Administrator

Keokuk, IA – Keokuk's new city administrator could be in place within the next three weeks.

The city council has reached an agreement with Odis Jones of Columbus, Ohio.

Mayor Dave Gudgel has been authorized to sign the contract, on behalf of the city, and to make arrangements for Jones to sign the deal.

The terms of the contract were not released following last night's 20 minute closed-door council meeting.

Gudgel says that information will be made public once both sides have officially signed off, possibly within 36 hours.

The city council offered the job to Jones nearly three weeks ago.

Negotiations have been underway ever since.

Gudgel says a couple of issues had to be worked out over the weekend before the deal could be finalized.

Jones will be the city's first administrator.

He will also serve as City Clerk.

Jones has previously served as city manager of Centralia, Illinois and city administrator in Obetz, Ohio.
