Keokuk, IA – A veteran state lawmaker wants to continue to represent Southeast Iowa for four more years.
After 22 years in office, State Senator Gene Fraise says his experience is a major asset for the region because he knows how to get things done in Des Moines.
The Democrat from rural Fort Madison represents the 46th district: Lee and Henry Counties.
Fraise says one of his top priorities is keeping the Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison.
Senator Fraise says he will also focus on the Highway 61 bypass around Fort Madison, health care reform, and ag-related issues.
The filing period gets underway in about four months.
The 2008 primary is set for June 3.

* Fraise defeated Doug Abolt in November of 2004 by a tally of 53% to 47%.
* Fraise was losing that race until the absentee ballots were counted in the early morning hours.
