Montrose, IA – Ron Dinwiddie has served as Montrose's mayor on two seperate occasions.
But after this latest stint in office and more than ten years at the post, he chose not to seek re-election.
Two men want to replace Dinwiddie: John Canida and Alderman John Geyer.
Both agree that replacing Dinwiddie will not be easy but they are willing to try.
Canida started a commercial fishing business after his retirement from an industrial career in Lee County.
When you ask about his political experience, Canida laughs because he has none.
He just wanted to get involved.
Geyer, who is also retired, does have some experience in city government.
He is currently a member of the Montrose City Council.
Geyer decided to run because he wants to help continue the successes Montrose has seen in recent years.
Geyer and Canida say they would not come in and shake up city government.
