Bushnell, IL – Bushnell aldermen decided not to contribute an extra $50,000 toward an assisted living center that's under construction.
Mayor Steve Russell says Petersen Healthcare asked for the funds to help cover the cost of a special pump that would boost the development's fire sprinkler system.
He says the company's tests showed the quantity of water and its pressure did not meet the standards of the fire security system.
However ... Russell says aldermen decided they had already put more than $150,000 in city funds toward extending water, electric and sewer lines as well as sidewalks to the development.
