Burlington, IA – A pair of Democratic Presidential candidates made nearly simultaneous campaign stops in Burlington yesterday.
US Senators Chris Dodd of Connecticut and Barack Obama of Illinois discussed issues such as health care for veterans, immigration, the War in Iraq, and education reform at separate events, less than two blocks from each other.
Dodd told more than 50 supporters packed into the VFW Hall on Washington Street that the G-I Bill should be expanded and that veterans should be able to easily receive health care at non-VA hospitals.
Roughly 90 minutes later, Obama told a crowd of more than 250 at the Port of Burlington that more money should be invested in early childhood education, teacher pay should be increased, and college should be made more affordable.
With the Iowa Caucuses less than two months away, Southeast Iowa residents could have more days of multiple candidates around at the same time.
