Macomb, IL – McDonough County's budget for the coming fiscal year shows about a two percent growth in the general fund.
Finance Committee Chairwoman Alice Henry says with little revenue growth expected, the department heads have done an excellent job of holding down expenses.
She says the county is expecting some additional sales tax money and a little bit more in property tax income.
However, she says it has been hard to cope with the jumps in cost for utilities and for insurance premiums.
However, Henry says the budget will be in the black, and should have an end-of-year balance sufficient to cover at least two months' spending.
The spending plan calls for $6.15 million in spending from the general fund. The overall budget appropriates almost $16 million for the fiscal year that begins next month.

The county's allowable growth according to the cost price index is 2.5 percent.
Since the growth in the budget is less than that, there will be no need for a truth in taxation hearing.
Henry says
