Keokuk, IA – After a number of discussions about taking them down, Keokuk is now looking to repair some of the traffic signals in its downtown district.
The state has told Keokuk that it would only give the city money to repair the signals at key intersections of Main Street from 2nd to 14th Streets.
For the rest, Keokuk would likely be on its own to foot the bill.
With that in mind, Finance Sub-Committee Chairman Doug Matlick says the city is considering getting new signals at the intersections of 7th and Main and 13th and Main because those are two the state would help out with.
He says the old signals could then be used to repair other damaged traffic lights.
Matlick says the city may, come budget time, place a couple hundred thousand dollars in a special traffic signal repair fund.
