Macomb, IL – Macomb Mayor Mick Wisslead is looking forward to the meeting room that will be part of a new hotel in town.
Construction could begin next month on the Hampton Inn on East Jackson Street.
Wisslead says plans include a meeting room that could seat 100 people.
He believes having a conference center accessible from the Holiday Inn Express next door would allow marketing of larger conventions than Macomb can now handle.
He says the town has overnight accommodations for about 400 people including all motels, the Corbin Conference Center and Bed and Breakfast businesses.

The Hampton Inn will cost around $5 million including land, construction and furnishings.
Developers are conferring with other businesses trying to get them to locate on the unused lots near the Hampton Inn.
