Macomb, IL – McDonough County is dropping the idea of hiring a county administrator.
A subcommittee had been surveying county staff members and compiling a job description for an administrator for several months.
But at this week's meeting of the Human Relations and Planning Committee, the group decided to proceed no further with the idea.
The job description has been completed. However, some board members remain strongly opposed to creating the position.
Others believe having an administrator would streamline operations and save the county money.

County Board Chairman Scott Schwerer says the completed job description for an administrator will remain in the files until someone suggests that the position be created again.
