Keokuk, IA – It could be a while before a vacancy on the Southeast Iowa Regional Economic and Port Authority is filled.
The Lee County Board of Supervisors must find someone to replace Lowell Junkins, who resigned earlier this month.
Chairman Larry Kruse says, at this point, the county's top priority is finding a new director for the Lee County Economic Development Group, which happens to be another post previously held by Junkins.
Kruse says the new LCEDG director could serve double duty by filling both posts.
One of the candidates for the LCEDG director position recently visited the county.
LCEDG Chairman Mike Holtkamp says two other candidates could be brought in for personal interviews during this second search process.
The first ended when the county's number one candidate turned down its job offer.

* A director on the Southeast Iowa Regional Economic and Port Authority must have lived in, worked in, or owned a business in the county for at least three years before being appointed.
