Fort Madison, IA – Fort Madison residents will get a sneak peak at the city's new public library this week.
An open house will be held at the facility, which is located at 1920 Avenue E, from 5:30-7:30 Thursday evening.
Board President Elaine Eschman says construction wrapped up two weeks ago.
Since then, she says employees and volunteers have been moving more than 75,000 books, magazines, and other materials from the recently closed Cattermole Memorial Library to the new facility.
Eschman says people are anxious to get into the new library.
Fort Madison's new public library will officially open its doors on December 3.
It will be open roughly 50 hours a week, Monday through Saturday.
